WORK JACKETS GUIDE

How to choose hi-vis jackets and layers.

Jackets and layers carry the visibility whenever they are the outer layer. Choose by weather and activity first, then confirm the class, any flame-resistance requirement and closures that work with gloves.

  • Outer layer: a jacket worn over a vest hides it, so the jacket must carry the required class.
  • Class 3: sleeved jackets can reach ANSI/ISEA 107 Class 3 when the finished garment meets 1,240 in² of background and 310 in² of retroreflective material.
  • Weather: in Europe, EN 343 rates rainwear, while EN 342 and EN 14058 cover cold and cool conditions.
  • Flame resistance: FR layers need FR-compatible tape, thread and trims, confirmed against the standard the buyer requires.
  • Two-tone: darker lower panels resist dirt but do not count as background material.

Questions buyers ask

Can a hi-vis jacket be worn instead of a vest?

Yes, if the jacket itself meets the required class as worn. A jacket worn over a vest hides it, so the jacket has to provide the visibility. A sleeved jacket can reach ANSI/ISEA 107 Class 3 when the finished garment meets the Class 3 areas.

Which jacket suits cold and wet sites?

An insulated bomber suits cold, low-activity work, a softshell suits wind and active work, and sustained rain needs a waterproof shell. In Europe, check the EN 343 classes for waterproofing and breathability, and keep the visibility class on the outer layer.

Are the FR hoodies and fleeces flame resistant?

They follow an FR product direction in FR modacrylic blends. Flame resistance is confirmed for the finished configuration against the standard the buyer requires, such as NFPA 2112, ASTM F1506 or EN ISO 11612, with FR-compatible tape, thread and trims.

What is the MOQ for custom hi-vis jackets?

The standard factory MOQ is 100 pieces, and fully customized products have an MOQ of 300–500 pieces, depending on the approved specification. In-stock products ship within 7 days, customization of in-stock products is completed within 15 days, and full customization follows a 25-day schedule. Any style-specific exception is confirmed in the quotation, and samples and pre-production samples are confirmed case by case through an inquiry.
