WORK SHIRTS GUIDE

How to choose hi-vis and work shirts.

Shirts let a crew wear visibility without an extra layer. Long sleeves with bands can reach Class 3 on their own, vented constructions help in heat, FR shirts serve flame and arc hazards, and outdoor shirts suit roles without a hi-vis requirement.

  • Class 3 from a shirt: sleeves with retroreflective bands let a shirt reach ANSI/ISEA 107 Class 3 when the finished garment meets the Class 3 areas.
  • Heat: vented and birdseye constructions help airflow; confirm comfort over the wearer’s base layer.
  • Flame resistance: FR shirts need FR-compatible tape, thread and trims and are confirmed against the required FR standard.
  • Outdoor shirts: flannel and stretch outdoor shirts are workwear without a high-visibility classification.
  • Branding: woven shirts take embroidery well; keep every logo clear of retroreflective bands.

Questions buyers ask

Can a hi-vis shirt replace a safety vest?

Yes, if the shirt meets the required class as worn and is not covered by another layer. Long-sleeve shirts with sleeve bands can reach ANSI/ISEA 107 Class 3, so a vest is not needed when the shirt alone meets the requirement.

Are FR shirts also high-visibility?

Only when the finished shirt is built and documented for both. A high-visibility class does not make a shirt flame resistant, and an FR rating does not make it high-visibility. Confirm both standards for the finished configuration.

Which logo method suits work shirts?

Embroidery gives a durable finish on woven shirts, while heat transfers suit knit shirts and detailed artwork. Keep logos on background fabric, clear of retroreflective bands, and check the result after the intended wash route.

What is the MOQ for custom work shirts?

The standard factory MOQ is 100 pieces, and fully customized products have an MOQ of 300–500 pieces, depending on the approved specification. In-stock products ship within 7 days, customization of in-stock products is completed within 15 days, and full customization follows a 25-day schedule. Any style-specific exception is confirmed in the quotation, and samples and pre-production samples are confirmed case by case through an inquiry.
